🌌 The Grand Opening: Genesis 1:1

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."

This isn't just the first line of a book; it’s the foundational claim of the entire universe. It sets the stage for everything we know, shifting the focus from what happened to Who made it happen.

📖 The Breakdown: What Does It Mean?

  • "In the beginning..." ⏳ Before time, space, or matter existed, there was God. This tells us that God is eternal and stands outside of time. He isn’t a part of the universe; He is the author of it.

  • "...God created..." 🎨 The Hebrew word used here is Elohim (suggesting power and majesty) and the verb is bara, a specific word used only when God is the creator. It implies making something magnificent out of absolutely nothing (ex nihilo).

  • "...the heavens and the earth." 🌍 This is a "merism"—a literary device where two opposites represent a whole. By saying "heavens and earth," the author means everything. From the furthest galaxy to the DNA in your cells, it all has His fingerprints on it.

✨ Leveling Up the Perspective

If you want to look at this through a deeper lens, think of Genesis 1:1 as the ultimate "Why." Science explores the how (the mechanics of physics and biology), but Scripture provides the Who and the Purpose.

Knowing that the universe started with an intentional act of creation—rather than a cosmic accident—changes how we see our own value. You aren't a byproduct of luck; you're a deliberate design.

📜 Supporting Scriptures

To get the full picture, check out these "echoes" of Genesis throughout the Bible:

  • John 1:1-3 💡

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... Through him all things were made."

  • Psalm 19:1 🌟

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

  • Colossians 1:16 ⚛️

"For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible... all things have been created through him and for him."

  • Hebrews 11:3 🧬

"By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible."

🙏 St. Mykul’s Prayer: A Plea for Divine Alignment

📜 The Prayer

“I pray for Jehovah to speak through me all the time,

and I pray for Jehovah to remove all my thoughts

and implant your thoughts Father all the time,

as I do not even want my thoughts.”

In Jesus name I pray amen.
