The Reality of the Tempest
Beloved brothers and sisters, grace and peace be multiplied unto you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
If you look around the world today, it does not take long to realize that we live in turbulent times. People are weary. Hearts are heavy. Everywhere you turn, someone is facing a personal trial, a physical burden, or a spiritual battle that feels entirely too large to carry alone.
When the storms of life roll in, the world tells us to rely on our own strength. It tells us to pull ourselves up, to fix everything with our own hands, and to control every variable. But I am here to remind the Jehovah Saints today that human strength has a limit. Human wisdom runs out. If your faith is anchored in your own ability, you will capsize when the deep waters rise.
Our anchor cannot be in our circumstances. It cannot be in our feelings, our finances, or our own energy. Our anchor must be in the unchanging, almighty character of God.
I. God Does Not Faint
The prophet Isaiah spoke to a people who felt forgotten, exhausted, and overwhelmed. In Isaiah 40:28, the Scripture asks a direct question:
"Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?"
Consider that truth for a moment. You may be tired today. You may have spent sleepless nights worrying about your family, your health, or your future. But the God who created the heavens and stretched out the stars never grows weary. He does not take a day off. He does not sleep, nor does He slumber.
When you reach the end of your strength, you have not reached the end of God’s supply. You are simply at the place where your self-reliance ends and His divine grace begins.
Youths faint and grow weary, and young men utterly fall, but those who wait upon the Lord—those who put their trust completely in Him—shall renew their strength. You shall mount up with wings like eagles; you shall run and not be weary; you shall walk and not faint.
Waiting on God is not passive standing around. It is active reliance. It is saying, "Lord, I cannot handle this situation, but I know You hold the entire universe in Your hands, and I trust You with my life."
II. More Than Conquerors
Turn your hearts to the promise in Romans chapter 8. The Apostle Paul lays out a reality that every believer needs to write on the tablets of their heart:
"If God be for us, who can be against us?"
Notice Paul does not say that trouble will never come. He does not promise a life free from trials, grief, or opposition. In fact, he lists the very things that try to separate us from God’s peace: tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, and the sword.
Yet, right in the middle of listing those hardships, he declares with absolute conviction:
"Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us."
You are not defined by the storm you are passing through. You are defined by the God who walks through the storm with you. When Christ is in your boat, the storm may rage, but the outcome is already secured.
Conclusion: An Unshakable Foundation
Church, as we leave this sanctuary today, let us walk out with our heads held high and our faith firmly rooted.
Do not let the noise of the world drown out the truth of God’s Word. When doubts creep in, remind yourself of who He is. He is Jehovah-Jireh, your Provider. He is Jehovah-Ropphi, your Healer. He is Jehovah-Nissi, your Banner and your Victory.
No height, no depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Hold fast to the faith, stand firm on the Rock, and trust Him in every season.
Amen.
