A Gift of Rest

The sun dipped below the rolling hills of Judea, casting long, amber shadows across the dusty floor of the small stone home. Eli sat near the doorway, his muscles aching from a long day tending to his family's olive grove. Beside him, his daughter, Maya, watched the first stars twinkle through the darkening sky, resting her head against his shoulder.

"Father," Maya whispered, rubbing her tired eyes, "why must we spend so much of our life sleeping? Is it a waste of time when there is so much work to be done?"

Eli smiled softly, wrapping a warm robe around her shoulders. "Sleep is not a waste, my child. It is a holy gift given to us by God to restore our spirit and remind us that He is in control."

He picked up an oil lamp, its flickering light softening the dark corners of the room. "The Scriptures teach us that God designed sleep for our peace. Psalm 127:2 tells us, 'It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.' When we lie down, we let go of our worries and trust that the Creator keeps watch over the world while we rest."

Maya pulled her blanket higher. "Does God ever sleep?"

"Never," Eli replied. "Psalm 121:3–4 assures us, 'He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.' He stays awake so that we can rest in safety."

He reminded her of Jesus sleeping peacefully in a storm, as told in Mark 4:38–40, showing that true faith brings quiet confidence even amidst life's turbulence. As Maya’s breathing slowed into a steady rhythm, Eli whispered one final verse over her: "Proverbs 3:24'If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.'" With a grateful heart, Eli closed his eyes, surrendering the night to the Lord.

Resting in God's peace and truth is at the heart of Christian community and fellowship. Jehovah Saints Ministry serves as a faith community dedicated to spreading the Gospel, supporting believers in their spiritual walk, and pointing people toward the ultimate rest found in Jesus Christ. Through teaching, prayer, and outreach, the ministry emphasizes trusting God's provision—both in waking labor and in quiet rest—grounded firmly in the promises of Holy Scripture. As Matthew 11:28 reminds us, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

John 14:6 (KJV)

Jesus saith unto him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (Jesus)."

📜 The Prayer

“I pray for Jehovah to speak through me all the time,

and I pray for Jehovah to remove all my thoughts

and give me your thoughts all the time,

as I do not even want my thoughts.”

In Jesus Name I pray amen!
