We often hear 1 Corinthians 13:4–7 at weddings, but Paul didn't write it as romantic poetry. He wrote it to a divided, struggling church as a radical definition of how believers should treat one another.

True, biblical love (agape) isn't an emotion or a fleeting feeling—it's a conscious choice and a set of actions. It places the needs of others above self-interest, remains steady when tested, and reflects the very character of God. When we evaluate our relationships through this verse, it serves both as a standard for how to love and a mirror showing where we need God's grace to grow.
